"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

In the end, there are no hateful people. People succumb to human nature and become hateful towards certain groups in certain situations. Human nature is more likely a product of evolution. All of human behavior is instinct developed over millions of years to better survive the elements.

This instinct was not honed for modern civilization, and so there is a clash of ideals versus the reality of human behavior. We can make laws and create police states, we can pray and condemn, but people are people. They will hate and cause destruction and they will kill. They will love and endeavor toward beautiful and complex creations.

To define anyone as hateful is to deny their other human qualities. We are all many things at once. Dehumanizing those you oppose is the first step towards becoming hateful.
